Academic Calendar and Scheduling

In Germany the academic year is divided into two semesters. Winter term starts annu-ally on October 1, while summer term starts on April 1. Usually lectures start about two weeks later – either mid-October or mid-April.

Every semester begins with a week of orientation for all new students. The International Student Office provides information meetings especially for international students on academics and on life in Oldenburg and assists with enrolment and other formalities. During the semester, there are several activities for international students supplied by the International Student Office and different other organisations on campus, i.e. excursions or meetings on specific topics. you will receive a calendar of events with all these dates during orientation week, or you may have a look at www.uni-oldenburg.de/iso.

Winter term lectures end in mid-February and sum-mer term lectures in mid-July. During winter term there is a Christmas break of two weeks.
